The Sun Blade 2500 workstation is equipped with a robust set of workstation-class features, including up to two 1.28-GHz UltraSPARC IIIi processors; up to 8 GB of DDR memory with ECC (2 CPUs required); high-bandwidth, low-latency memory controllers; expandable, high-performance storage options; multiple PCI buses; and visualization-class graphics.

The Sun Blade 2500 workstation provides outstanding performance for visually demanding graphics applications through support for the Sun XVR-100, Sun XVR-600, or Sun XVR-1200 graphics accelerators. Featuring six 64-bit PCI slots, built-in USB and IEEE 1394a (FireWire) ports, and on-board Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000Base-T), the Sun Blade 2500 workstation also enables high-throughput connectivity to a wide range of technology-leading peripherals.

The Solaris 8 or 9 Operating System provides 100 percent binary compatibility with all Solaris applications, enabling users who require superior performance and reliability to migrate seamlessly to the Sun Blade 2500 workstation from previous generation Sun workstations including the Sun Ultra 60, Sun Ultra 80, Sun Blade 1000 and Sun Blade 2000 workstations.
